On September 19, 2019, Jambojet, a regional low-cost carrier, announced that it had received approval from the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority to start flights to Kigali, Rwanda.

This approval is part of Jambojet's regional expansion strategy, which aims to increase its presence in the African aviation market.

"We are pleased to have received this approval," said Vincent Rague, Chairman of Jambojet. "Kigali is one of the routes we have been pursuing in our expansion plan. Once we have everything in place, we will begin operations."

Additionally, Jambojet has acquired a brand new De Havilland Dash 8 – Q400 aircraft, bringing its total fleet to six airplanes.

The new aircraft is the first of four expected to arrive this year, which will boost the airline's capacity and enable it to fly to more African destinations.

"We are excited about our growth prospects in the region," said Allan Kilavuka, Jambojet's Chief Executive Officer. "We have an aggressive plan to fly to more African destinations and this is why we are expanding our fleet."

With an average fleet age of 3.7 years, Jambojet is now the airline with the youngest fleet in Africa and possibly across the world.
