On September 19, 2019, a significant verdict was handed down in the Isiolo court, where a middle-aged man was sentenced to life imprisonment for a heinous crime.

The court found Hussein Kara Roba guilty of raping a 7-year-old girl at Manyatta Taqwa on July 13, 2018. According to Isiolo Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai, the evidence presented was candid and sufficient to convict Roba to life in prison.

Roba's crime was committed at 3am, when he accessed the victim's house and found her sleeping in the sitting room. He covered her mouth and raped her as the mother slept in the bedroom.

As soon as he left the house, the minor screamed for help, waking up the mother who found her bleeding from her private parts. The girl was rushed to Merti Sub County Hospital, where medics confirmed that she had been raped.

Roba's case was not the only one heard in the court that day. Two men, Abdinassir Jaro and Ali Adan, were also found guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl between January 10 and 12, 2018. They were sentenced to 20 years and 10 years in prison, respectively.
