On September 19, 2019, a joint parenting agreement was signed by two couples from Busia County, Kenya, who had swapped husbands in a bid to stay with their biological children.

The agreement, witnessed by County Commissioner Jacob Narengo and Children Services Director Esther Wasige, aimed at protecting the rights of the children involved.

According to Wasige, the children were still young and could not be allowed to live with someone not their biological mother. She emphasized that the agreement was legally binding and that any party that disobeys it would be sued for neglecting their children.

Under the agreement, Kevin Barasa was tasked with ensuring the basic needs of the two children his new wife Immaculate Auma had with Christopher Bwire were met. Similarly, Mr. Bwire was asked to provide for the three children Mr. Barasa had with Lilian Weta before their marriage went south.

Wasige stated that the children's rights would be protected until they are adults, and the agreement would be reviewed whenever the need arises. She warned that any couple that abuses the rights of the minors would be arrested and prosecuted.

The couples, who reside in Siroba, Matayos Constituency, and Namwitsula, Butula, respectively, had expressed happiness with their new marriages after signing the agreement.
