On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Kenyan singer Esther Akoth, alias Akothee, made headlines after she visited Parliament in a micro mini-skirt suit, causing a stir among orderlies and lawmakers.

According to reports, Akothee was invited to Parliament by nominated Member of Parliament David Sankok, who represents people living with disabilities. She had lunch at the cafeteria with MP Sankok and his Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino.

However, Akothee's attire sparked controversy when orderlies blocked her from entering the members-only eatery with her bodyguards, citing that her mini-skirt was too revealing. She was later cleared to access the restaurant without her security men.

Before entering the cafeteria, orderlies handed her a leso to wrap around her waist, but Akothee refused to comply, leading to a confrontation. After about five minutes, she agreed to cover her legs using the leso.

When questioned about her attire, Akothee joked, 'The problem is not the length of my skirt, it is my legs that are long.'

MP Sankok defended Akothee, stating that she was well-dressed and that the reason her skirt appeared short was because she has long legs.
