Lamu Senator Anwar Liotiptip has found himself at the center of a paternity dispute with a woman he met on social media.
According to the woman, Hanifa Were, she met Loitiptip on Facebook about two months after he parted ways with his ex-wife, Sophia. However, Loitiptip claims he never touched her, citing that he discovered she was 46 years old and a mother of a teenage girl, which made him dismiss her.
Loitiptip, 33, believes that Were became 'desperate' when he turned her down and that her claims are a script drafted by his political enemies.
He has threatened to sue Muslims for Human Rights (Muhuri) for allowing Were to use their platform to tarnish his name, seeking Sh100 million in damages.
Were, on the other hand, claims that Loitiptip promised to assist her and her daughter, but abandoned her after they had sex.
She says Loitiptip never got in touch with her again, leaving her to believe that she had finally found someone special.
