On September 13, 2019, singer Esther Akoth, alias Akothee, caused a stir at Parliament after she was blocked by parliamentary orderlies over her inappropriate dress code.

She was invited by nominated MP David Sankok for a discussion on an undisclosed matter, but her short green skirt and sultry blazer caught the attention of the officials.

Despite being held hostage for over 20 minutes, Akothee refused to comply with the directives from the officials, who insisted that Parliament's precincts were not a place for ladies to come half-naked.

She was eventually allowed to enter the dining hall after being given a kikoi by a lady Sergeant-at-arms to cover her thighs.

The incident comes just days after Akothee held talks with Deputy President William Ruto's wife Rachel Ruto on September 13, 2019.
