On September 18, 2019, Ezekiel Mutua, the CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), pointed fingers at the Kenyan media and some legislators for the moral decay in young Kenyans.
Mutua cited the example of Babu Owino, a Kenyan legislator known for using vulgar language, saying that such behavior conditions children to think that's how people should relate with each other.
He also accused the media of airing dirty content, which contributes to growing immorality among the young generation.
Furthermore, Mutua claimed that some individuals, including clergy and celebrities, run controversies to attract clout, clicks, and traffic for personal gains, which has contributed to the young generation absorbing it as a rite of passage in pursuit of stardom and success.
The controversy surrounding a standard four pupil from Consolata Primary School, who has been trending for three days, has sparked a heated debate on social media.
