Published on September 18, 2019, Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his ambition to surpass Lionel Messi's Ballon d'Or record, a feat he believes he deserves to achieve.
The 34-year-old footballer has been at the center of a long-standing rivalry with Messi, with both players having won five Ballon d'Or awards each in the past decade.
However, Ronaldo is determined to break the tie and become the sole record holder of the prestigious award.
In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo stated, "Golden Balls (Ballon d'Or). I would love it and I think I deserve it."
He also described Messi as "a fantastic guy, fantastic player" and acknowledged that Messi is "in the history of football" but believes he needs to win more Ballon d'Or awards to surpass him.
Ronaldo has won five Champions League trophies to Messi's four but the Argentine talisman has ten La Liga titles, while Ronaldo has six league titles with Manchester United, Madrid, and Juventus.
Despite the rivalry, Ronaldo remains focused on his goal and is determined to make history by becoming the sole record holder of the Ballon d'Or award.
