Published on September 17, 2019, a segment of The Tonight Show featured Jimmy Fallon and three-Michelin-starred chef Eric Ripert visiting St. John's University in Queens to create a gourmet meal using only dorm room leftovers and snacks.
For the challenge, Ripert took ingredients that were just sitting around in a dorm, including a box of Cap'n Crunch, and turned them into near-gourmet snacks. The first course was a 'Dormet Cheeto Omelet,' made with 4 eggs, a bag of Cheetos, salt, pepper, and a butter packet.
Next, the main course was 'Leftover Burger Bolognese,' consisting of chopped up leftover hamburgers mixed with tomato soup and served over two cups of instant ramen. A student who tasted the dish exclaimed, 'It's amazing!'
The final course was a 'Mom's Ice Cream Sandwich,' made with vanilla ice cream, two cookies, and a bag of M&Ms. Ripert melted some of the M&Ms down to liquid form and drizzled it over the cookies, which had vanilla ice cream placed between them. He then sprinkled some still-solid M&Ms on top of the chocolate drizzle.
