On September 17, 2019, the management of Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi made a breakthrough in identifying seven bodies that had been lying unclaimed for nearly four months.

The hospital's morgue had been housing nine unclaimed bodies since May, prompting the management to reach out to homicide detectives for assistance in identifying the deceased.

According to Dr. Musa Mohamed, the Medical Superintendent of Mama Lucy Hospital, the results of the tests conducted on the bodies were released on Saturday, leading to the identification of the seven individuals.

The identified bodies belong to Eugine Wabure Wechuli, Peter Macharia Mwango, Samuel Etili Aiyamai, Daniel Oruru Amuzama, Raphael Kwetu Kasamani, Dismas Leokono, and Benjamin Boma Wasike.

Dr. Musa explained that most of the bodies were victims of road accidents, while two cases were attributed to natural illnesses.

Two bodies remain unidentified, and the hospital is working on ways to identify them.

"Occasionally, we receive accident victims whose identity is not known or have no relatives accompanying them when being admitted for treatment and that is why we involved the homicide police to help us," said Dr. Musa.
