On September 17, 2019, the postmortem of Tob Cohen was rescheduled to Wednesday after the government pathologist recused himself.
Dr. Peter Ndegwa, the pathologist who was initially scheduled to perform the autopsy, recused himself after a consultation with the involved parties.
Speaking at Chiromo Funeral Parlor, Dr. Ndegwa explained that he had been at the crime scene on Friday as a pathologist invited by the DCI, where he mentioned something to the DCI that did not sit well with some of the lawyers present.
As a result, the DCI requested that Dr. Ndegwa not continue representing them, leading to his recusal from the case.
The postmortem will now be led by Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, who has been recalled from leave.
Meanwhile, an X-ray of the body scheduled to be taken at Kenyatta National Hospital will proceed as planned.
The defense team representing Cohen's wife, Sarah Wairimu, is expected to move to court to apply for her presence at the mortuary on Wednesday to identify her husband's body.
