On a notable visit to the United States, Kenyan teacher Peter Tabichi, the 2019 Global Teacher's Prize winner, met with President Donald Trump at the White House on September 17, 2019.

Tabichi, a science teacher from Nakuru, has gained international recognition for his philanthropy and selflessness, giving away 80% of his monthly income to help the poor.

“His dedication, hard work, and belief in his student’s talent has led his poorly resourced school in Kenya to emerge victorious after taking on the country’s best schools in national science competitions. Peter, you inspire us all! Thank you for your commitment to your students,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham tweeted.

Tabichi's visit to the United States was part of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 74th session, where he addressed the gathering and shared his insights on how he managed to succeed in his profession in a community where poverty is widespread.
