Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has been admitted to Aga Khan Hospital for a spinal cord procedure to address recurrent back pain.

According to a social media post on Monday, Passaris will undergo a Medial Branch Block procedure to alleviate pain on her spinal cord, under the care of Dr. Thikra Shariff and Mr. Livingstone Olunya.

Passaris revealed that the pain started 20 years ago after she gave birth and worsened after she fell down the stairs.

She noted, "I can't sleep. I look so exhausted. I don't sleep at night. I just keep turning on the bed even with the painkillers. The horizontal position is terribly painful."

Passaris also shared her experience with a previous nerve block procedure in the United Kingdom, which did not provide lasting relief.

She urged Kenyans to exercise regularly and called on the government to legalize the use of medical marijuana to help manage chronic pain.
