Aubameyang Blasts Arsenal's Defence

Published on September 16, 2019

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed his disappointment with Arsenal's defence after the team's 2-2 draw with Watford. The 30-year-old striker scored a brace in the first half but saw his team concede two cheap goals in the second half.

Aubameyang's first-half goals were cancelled out by Tom Cleverly and Roberto Pereyra, with Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz being culpable for the two goals conceded.

"Obviously we didn’t expect that [the comeback]. We knew that they were going to try and come back with good intentions, of the kind they demonstrated in the second half," Aubameyang told Canal Plus.

"Sadly, we were not able to deal with them well. I feel like we are literally giving goals to the opposition, it is up to us to progress in that respect," he added.

Aubameyang refused to point fingers at any individual but suggested that the team's performance would have been different if injured Alexandre Lacazette had featured in the match.

Watford's comeback was almost complete when Gerard Deulofeu and Abdoulaye Doucoure came close to scoring late in the game, leaving Aubameyang frustrated.
