Known for shunning political rhetoric, Raphael Tuju's re-emergence in Nyanza region has raised eyebrows among the region's political elite.
As a former Rarieda MP and Minister, Tuju has a record of empowering and improving the lives of commoners, which is slowly winning over the hearts of the people.
However, his rising star and role as President Uhuru Kenyatta's point man in the region for development projects has ODM think tanks worried that he may eclipse some of the region's key politicians who have been positioning themselves to succeed Raila Odinga.
According to sources, Sh2 million was mobilized and flown in a chopper to counter Tuju's development projects, which he is using to endear himself to potential voters in the region.
Meanwhile, a former aide of Raila Odinga is making a comeback, plotting to run for a political seat in the ODM stronghold of Nyanza. His likely opponents have threatened to unleash a dossier against him, citing his past allegations of fraudulently using Raila's name to con unsuspecting businessmen.
