On May 19, 2018, a heated exchange between Steve Komphela and Luc Eymael began, with Komphela labeling Eymael a 'mercenary' after Eymael's Free State Stars defeated Maritzburg United 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup final.
Fast forward to 2019, Komphela has continued his war of words with Eymael, stating that he must not come back to South Africa.
