On September 15, 2019, Senator Gideon Moi visited Kiambu County and called on leaders to respect President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying that playing politics in 2022 would be a disservice to the President and undermine development efforts.
Speaking at a church service in KAG Thigio, Moi stated that God knows who will take over the presidency in 2022, but for now, they should allow President Uhuru to work.
"Siasa za 2022 ni Mungu anajua. Wakati Uhuru atamaliza kipindi chake, wale wanamezea mate kiti hicho watawania. Lakini kwa sasa tumruhusu afanye kazi," he said.
During his visit, Moi met with other leaders, including Senator Kimani Wamatangi, who emphasized the need for unity in Kiambu, where President Uhuru is from.
"Sisi hatutaki hayo ya Kieleweke ama Tangatanga, huu si wakati wa siasa," Wamatangi said.
With no clear leader emerging to succeed President Uhuru, the political landscape in Mount Kenya has become increasingly complex.
