On September 16, 2019, Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo officially opened the Sabatia Sub County Dental clinic, marking a significant milestone in the county's efforts to bring healthcare services closer to residents.

During the launch, at least 400 people received free check-ups, and the governor emphasized the importance of regular dental check-ups, stating, “oral health is important.”

The county has also employed 300 health workers, including nurses, clinical officers, doctors, radiographers, dentists, and physiotherapists, to cater to the growing demand for healthcare services.

Dr. Ottichilo noted that the county's referral hospital had been serving over 1,000 patients seeking dental services every month, and with the new services available at sub-county hospitals, congestion at the referral hospital is expected to decrease by 80%.

The governor's commitment to improving healthcare services in the county is evident in his statement, “For us to achieve universal healthcare, health services must be brought closer to the people, and as a county, we are committed to ensuring that provision of affordable healthcare comes to fruition.”
