On September 15, 2019, three prisoners escaped from Siaya Prison in Kenya, sparking an investigation by prison officials.
According to Kenya Prisons Service Spokesman Dixon Mwakazi, the prisoners took advantage of a church outing to make their escape.
Two of the prisoners were later re-arrested, while one remains at large.
Spokesman Mwakazi stated, "I am unable to give much information because we are still investigating."
He added that the two re-arrested prisoners have been locked up again, and a search is underway for the third escapee.
Regional commander involvement in the investigation was also confirmed.
