Published on September 15, 2019, Kamene Goro, a well-known Kenyan radio host, has spoken out about the consequences of her 2018 statement regarding her body count.
At the time, Kamene, who was relatively new to NRG radio, made the remarks during an on-air conversation with her co-host Andrew Kibe. She claimed to have slept with 27 men throughout her adult life.
However, the revelation had severe repercussions for Kamene's career. In an interview with True Love Magazine, she revealed that several corporate deals fell through due to her reputation, which was becoming increasingly infamous.
According to Kamene, her employer at the time, NRG radio, even put her on an 'ice block' following the backlash. She stated, 'It was one of the worst periods of my life. Not that I regret what I said, but the backlash was huge. A lot of corporates dropped me... It was treble just for sharing a honest fact.'
Kamene also expressed her concerns about the double standards in society, suggesting that the situation would have been different if she were a man. She claimed that her partner at the time advised her to reduce the number of men she claimed to have slept with to three or four.
Despite the challenges she faced, Kamene remains committed to being true to herself. However, she has also had to deal with other issues, including a court order that briefly froze her off-air due to a transition from NRG radio to Kiss FM, where she currently hosts a morning show with Kibe.
