Published on September 15, 2019, Gor Mahia are set to face USM Algiers in the first round of CAF Champions League in Algiers tonight.

The Kenyan champions have a chance to avenge their loss to the Algerian side in last year's Confederations Cup, where USM Algiers denied Gor Mahia a spot in the semi-finals.

Gor Mahia coach Steven Polack has emphasized the importance of his team's focus and a positive result away from home, despite the challenges they faced during their departure to Algeria.

"It is great that we are finally going to travel to Algeria. What happened was beyond the playing unit and technical bench. We cannot focus on it but make sure that we pick a positive result away as we wait for the return match," Polack said.

Polack also expressed confidence in his team's ability to rest and prepare before the match, citing their arrival in Algeria a day prior to the game.

"I am confident since we arrived yesterday, we have enough time to prepare and rest. It could have been difficult for us arriving on match day because you don’t get time to rest but now at least we will shake off the jet lag," Polack said.

Despite reports of financial difficulties facing USM Algiers, Polack has urged his team to remain cautious and focused during the match.
