Kenyan Lawyer Miguna Miguna Slams MP Lilian Gogo Over Proposal to Criminalize Air Travelers

Published on September 14, 2019, a proposed bill by MP Lilian Gogo to criminalize air travelers who engage in in-flight misconduct has sparked outrage among Kenyans.

Kenyan lawyer Miguna Miguna, who lives abroad, has expressed his discontent with the proposed bill, calling it an 'insult' to the country's aviation industry.

According to Miguna, the proposed bill would lead to 'a lack of safety and security during flights' and would be an 'insult' to the country's aviation industry.

MP Lilian Gogo had proposed the bill on September 11, 2019, stating that it would help to 'prevent in-flight misconduct and ensure the safety and security of all passengers.'

However, Miguna has criticized the proposal, saying that it would be an 'overreach' of the government's authority and would infringe on the rights of air travelers.

He also questioned the need for such a bill, saying that the existing laws and regulations were sufficient to deal with in-flight misconduct.

"I knew there was a problem with this woman when I saw her eating ugali with fish using public funds, twice. In the Luo culture, it's a taboo for a person to do so," Miguna wrote on Twitter.

He also questioned the motives behind the proposed bill, saying that it was an 'attempt to control the behavior of air travelers' and to 'impose a moral code' on them.
