Kamande Wa Kioi, a celebrated Kikuyu benga artist, was involved in a road accident on September 12, 2019, while driving from Kasarani to Kahawa West in Nairobi.

According to fellow musician Sammidoh, who was in the vicinity when the accident occurred, Kamande Wa Kioi's car collided with a Nazigi Sacco bus just past Millennium.

Sammidoh, who was once under Kamande Wa Kioi's tutelage, confirmed that the artist is in stable condition and had suffered some chest pains.

He urged the nation, especially Benga lovers across the country, to put their artists in prayer, citing the recent loss of legendary musician John De Mathew and his own recent accident in Kahawa West.

Kamande Wa Kioi is famous for his songs, including 'Kaana Funny', 'Uhuru ni Witu', 'Karanga Chapo', 'Mu-Ovacado', and 'Marigiti'. The accident occurred barely months after another one that claimed the life of benga musician John De Mathew.
