Published on September 12, 2019, nominated senator Isaac Mwaura shared a glimpse into his past, revealing how he and Ndindi Nyoro began their politics under Raila Odinga's leadership in 2011.

At that time, Mwaura served as an adviser on special interests groups in the office of the Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

"In 2011, here Ndindi Nyoro, Nyoro and Kagucia John, now Kiharu MP and Speaker of Nyeri County Assembly, in the company of Maryanne Njambi Mugo who vied for Molo MP seat. The lady holding the little child is Dr. Susan Mambo Kagucia, wife to Hon Kagucia," Mwaura said in a Facebook post.

He further explained that they were gifting him an orange tie and cufflinks to signify his membership and loyalty to the Orange Democratic Party (ODM).

"Now we are all in Jubilee party, each serving in their different capacities, having started out as student leaders," Mwaura added.

"Maryanne is the Secretary General of KANU Women's league. Friends stand for each other and grow together, despite shifting political allegiances. It makes a whole lot of difference," he said.

Like many other politicians, Nyoro also went through the Raila Odinga school of politics, but would later shift allegiances, a common trend among politicians from the Mt Kenya region.
