On September 12, 2019, the Kenyan cabinet made a significant move by approving a budget of KSh6.9 billion for the development of the Naivasha Special Economic Zone.
The funds will be used to finance phase 2A of the standard gauge railway, a crucial project that will enhance the country's transportation infrastructure.
The Naivasha Special Economic Zone will feature key facilities such as an Inland Container depot, a Railway Marshaling Yard, a Logistics zone, and a Public Utility area.
These infrastructure facilities will play a vital role in processing cargo transported from the port through the Standard Gauge railway.
