Published on September 12, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto has vowed to stop at nothing to ensure Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju is kicked out of the party.

The move comes after Tuju outwitted the DP in the McDonald Mariga candidature issue, which was invalidated by the IEBC, leaving Ruto with a setback.

According to a petition filed by Patrick Kabundu, the party's Mombasa County secretary, State officers holding party positions have contravened Article 77(2) of the Constitution and should be disqualified from their party posts.

Article 77(2) states that any appointed State officer shall not hold office in a political party.

Mr. Tuju was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to the position of Chief Administrative Secretary without a portfolio, categorizing him as a State officer.

The tribunal comprising Mr. Kyalo Mbobu, Ms. Milly Lwanga, and Dr. Adelaide Mbithi has given the party 10 days to respond to the issues raised by its member, with the matter set to be heard on September 27.
