On Sunday night, a senseless tragedy unfolded at the junction of Soweto slums and Congo area in Kahawa West, Kasarani, when a 2-year-old boy, Duncan Githinji, was accidentally shot by police officers.

According to his mother, Joyce Muthoni, she was searching for her children when she heard the sound of gunshots and rushed to the scene, only to find her son lying on the ground, bleeding profusely.

"Dad, Mum..." were the last words baby Githinji mumbled before losing his life, as his intestines were protruding outside and he was bleeding heavily, his mother recalled.

Speaking to various media outlets, Muthoni and her husband, David Njunguna, were overcome with grief as they struggled to come to terms with the loss of their second-born son.

"My son was to join kindergarten this January. Now this will be no more," Muthoni said, her voice trembling with pain.

The family is now demanding justice for the officers involved in the shooting, which they believe was unnecessary and unjustified.

"What did my son do to deserve this?" Njuguna asked, his voice cracking with emotion.

The incident has left the family and the community in shock, with many calling for accountability and justice for the young boy's tragic death.
