Kenya's Davis Cup team, led by non-playing captain Rosemary Owino, is set to compete in the Africa Group III Championship in Nairobi, with the team aiming to secure promotion to the Africa and Euro Group II tournament.

On September 11, 2019, the draw for the tournament was conducted by South African Anton Renes, who is the tournament supervisor. Kenya has been drawn in pool B alongside Benin, Algeria, and Madagascar, with the teams set to battle in a round-robin format from September 11 to 13, 2019.

Kenya will miss the services of Sheil Kotecha, but will be led by three-time Kenya Open champion Ismael Changawa in the title chase. Reigning Kenya Open winner Ibrahim Kibet is also in the team alongside Kevin Cheruiyot and Albert Njogu.

According to Owino, the team has been preparing well and is ready for any of the teams. "The boys have been preparing well and we just urge our fans to come out and support them," Owino said.

Kenya's aim is to take each match at a time and the draw doesn't really change that, added Owino. The stakes are high as the best two teams in the eight-team event will be promoted to the Africa and Euro Group II tournament.
