Kakamega Teenager Kills Friend in Altercation Over Name-Calling

On September 11, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Makutano village, Mautuma location of Lugari Sub County in Kakamega County.

A 14-year-old boy, a standard five pupil at St. Louis primary school, was arrested for fatally hitting his 15-year-old friend with a stone after a quarrel over name-calling.

According to Mautuma location Chief Pamela Davava Kulali, the two boys engaged in a fight after the quarrel, and the suspect hit his companion on the head with a stone, causing him to collapse.

Despite regaining strength and walking home, the victim later developed complications and was taken to the hospital by his parents, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival at the Mulimani Sub County Hospital.

Police have opened investigations into the incident, and the main suspect, as well as another friend who witnessed the incident, have been arrested.
