Ekuru Aukot and Anne Waiguru Engage in Heated Exchange Over Punguza Mizigo Bill ¶
On September 10, 2019, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot engaged in a heated exchange on social media over the Punguza Mizigo Bill and NYS saga.
Waiguru had earlier tweeted that the Punguza Mizigo Bill was an ‘unfortunate embarrassment’ after the Kirinyaga county assembly rejected the bill.
However, Aukot hit back at Waiguru, terming her a public thief and accusing her of benefiting from the NYS scam.
Waiguru lashed back at Aukot, saying that he was a beneficiary of the NYS scam and that he should focus on rectifying his defective bill.
Aukot also accused Waiguru of being scared of the integrity provisions in the bill and said that 19 MCAs supported the bill but were denied the opportunity to debate and vote on it.
