On a chilly Saturday morning, we ventured into Kileleshwa at 8:30 a.m. in search of a unique breakfast experience. Little did we know that our culinary adventure would take us to the world of Dim Sum at Yuanzhiyuan restaurant, a 7-month-old eatery serving traditional Chinese cuisine.
Dim Sum, a term that refers to small bite-sized portions of food served on small plates, was a new concept for us. We were expecting the usual Kenyan breakfast fare, but Yuanzhiyuan had other plans. As we sat down, we were treated to a series of small meals, each one more delightful than the last. And, to add to the excitement, we got to learn the art of eating with chopsticks.
Our Dim Sum experience was accompanied by a tea ceremony, a highly treasured and intricate process in Chinese culture. Watching the tea master prepare the tea was a true spectacle, a testament to the art and precision that goes into every step of the process.
As we savored each dish, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience a different culture's cuisine. Trying new foods and flavors can be intimidating, but it's also incredibly rewarding. Yuanzhiyuan's Dim Sum experience was a perfect reminder that there's always something new to discover, and that being adventurous with our palates can lead to some amazing culinary experiences.
