Impala Floodies Rugby Tournament is set to celebrate its 38th year in 2019, with Safaricom's BLAZE by its side for the fourth consecutive year. The tournament, taking place on three consecutive weekends from 28th September to 12th October at Impala Grounds, has received a significant boost in sponsorship from BLAZE, increasing from KES 1.8 million to KES 3 million.

According to Michael Joseph, Safaricom CEO, BLAZE aims to inspire young Kenyans to pursue unconventional careers, including sports. By supporting the tournament, BLAZE looks to make Kenya a hub of rugby talent through its G.R.I.T (Greatness Requires Internal Toughness) message.

With over 8,000 spectators attending the tournament in 2018, Impala Floodies will feature teams from high school to university to senior rugby teams, as well as women's rugby teams in 2019. The BLAZE sponsorship includes KES 1 million in cash, and an additional KES 2 million in airtime, prizes, pitch branding, and a fully-kitted media centre.

BLAZE, a sub-brand of Safaricom, was created to cater to the needs of young people aged 26 years and below. Founded on the principles of freedom, empowerment, and success, BLAZE has been a significant supporter of the Impala Floodies Rugby Tournament for the past four years.
