On September 10th, 2019, a shocking case of alleged child abuse unfolded in Nyamira Law Courts.
Fred Nyachae Omayio, the Magwagwa Ward Representative, was arraigned before the court, facing charges of defiling a 17-year-old girl.
According to the allegations, on the night of September 2nd to 3rd, Nyachae allegedly defiled the minor at a guest house in Kisii town.
He was also charged with committing an indecent act with a minor, contrary to Section 11(1) of the Sexual Offences Act No.3 of 2006.
Represented by his attorney, Omoke Morara, Nyachae pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested bail, citing his need to resume his duties and receive treatment for blood pressure.
However, the prosecution opposed his release, fearing that he would interfere with witnesses in the case.
A ruling on his application for bail is set to be delivered on September 16th.
