On Monday, police in Meru County began questioning 18 students from Gikumene Girls High School who had reportedly left the institution on Saturday morning.

According to County Director of Education Milton Nzioki, the 18 girls had left the school alongside 321 students who had been sent home due to unpaid school fees.

Mr. Nzioki stated that the remaining two students, one in Form 2 and one in Form 3, were being traced through the school administration, Deputy County Commander, and the police.

Parents of the missing children have expressed concern over the incident, blaming the school management for the security and safety of their children.

One parent, who spoke to Citizen Digital, said, 'I had cleared fee for my girl to be in school. Only to receive a shocking message on Saturday night that she was missing from school alongside others.'

The parent further stated, 'When I went to the police station, nothing had been reported. The school head needs to be responsible if we have to trust her with our children.'
