On Sunday, September 8, 2019, a tense situation unfolded at a TV studio when Ndindi Nyoro, a Kiharu MP, refused to leave, fearing arrest.

According to reports, police had set up a cordon outside the Royal Media Services (RMS) building, where Nyoro was being held, after he caused chaos at a Catholic church in Murang'a earlier that day.

Speaking on behalf of Maina Kamanda, the MP-elect for Kiharu, Alice Wahome criticized the police's approach, stating that it was a violation of the law.

'The police should have issued a notice of arrest. Even if it's not following the usual protocol, it's still a matter of following the law,' Wahome said.

Wahome also called on the police to write to the Speaker of the National Assembly, requesting permission to arrest Nyoro.

After being questioned, Nyoro stated that he would not leave the premises of the TV station, citing concerns about the identity of the people waiting outside.
