Published on September 8, 2019, Brigid Kosgei made history by breaking the half-marathon world record at the Great North Run.
With a time of 64:28, Kosgei left a trail of competitors behind her, including the 'Masai' sisters, Magdalene and Linet Masai, who came in second and third respectively.
Early this year, Kosgei had already proven her prowess by winning the 39th edition of the London Marathon with a personal best of 2:18:20.
Her impressive performance at the London Marathon was a testament to her hard work and dedication, and it's no surprise that she went on to break the half-marathon world record just a few months later.
Back in 2017, Kosgei had finished second at the Chicago Marathon with a personal best time of 2:20:22, but she was determined to lower it and went on to win the same marathon in 2:18:35 the following year.
