On September 8, 2019, a heated confrontation erupted between members of Team Tanga Tanga and Team Kieleweke at a church function in Murang' county.
The incident occurred at Gitui Catholic Church, where leaders from the two factions had gathered for a fundraiser.
According to reports, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, a firebrand from Team Tanga Tanga, and Nominated MP Maina Kamanda from Team Kieleweke clashed over who should welcome visitors.
The dispute allegedly began when Nyoro, who was not invited to the church, appeared at the service and demanded to take charge of welcoming other leaders.
His actions reportedly incited a section of his followers to confront Kamanda, prompting police intervention and chaos at the church.
Law enforcers attempted to arrest Nyoro, but his supporters resisted, causing further commotion.
Other leaders who attended the fundraiser included those affiliated with the newly formed Team Embrace.
