On Sunday, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko penned a heartfelt prayer on his Facebook page, a stark contrast to his usual confident demeanor.
Published on September 8, 2019, the prayer reflects Sonko's apparent humility as he sought divine intervention for himself and the nation.
He prayed for Kenyan leaders to be granted wisdom, for the country's safety, and for peace in war-torn Somalia.
“Lord, thank you for allowing me to live in this country, Kenya,” Sonko prayed, expressing gratitude for the freedom to worship and speak freely.
His prayer comes at the end of a tumultuous week, marked by two grueling interrogations by authorities over corruption-related accusations.
First, he faced hours of questioning by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission regarding alleged impropriety in garbage-collection tenders.
Later, he was hauled back to the interrogation room for further questioning by the Kenya Revenue Authority over tax evasion claims.
