Mombasa Magistrate Arrested Over Missing Heroine ¶
On July 2018, a case of missing heroine worth KSh 30 million was reported in Mombasa court. The case involved a magistrate and several other court officials.
According to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects had tampered with evidence and caused the disappearance of the heroine and KSh 600,000 in an unclear manner.
The suspects, including senior magistrate Edgar Matsigulu Kagoni and other court officials, were arrested and are being held at a local police station.
They will be charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and aiding in the distribution of narcotics.
This is not the first time evidence has gone missing in the case. In the past, the prosecutor in the case of MP Charles Keter had informed the court that the prosecution's evidence was missing.
It is alleged that the prosecutor had lost more than 40 prosecution witnesses who were supposed to testify in the case.
