Orange Democratic Movement's (ODM) Kibra Constituency Organizing Secretary, Sigar Agumba, has resigned, citing the party's failure to support home-grown leaders.
Agumba, who had expressed interest in contesting the Kibra parliamentary seat in the November 7 by-election on a KANU ticket, made the announcement on the same day the party was conducting its nomination exercise to identify a candidate to challenge Jubilee's MacDonald Mariga and Amani National Congress' Eliud Owalo.
According to reports, Agumba resigned in protest after the party declined a boardroom arrangement to hand him the ticket, opting instead for a democratic process where party members would select the candidate.
Agumba, who contested the seat in 2013 and lost to ODM's Ken Okoth, coming in second, hinted at contesting the seat again in the by-election.
Meanwhile, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria joined ODM's Benson Musungu for an elaborate campaign in Kibra Constituency, slamming MacDonald Mariga and other aspirants in the by-election.
