A second family has rejected a body recovered in Murang’a as belonging to one of four missing Kitengela friends, citing physical discrepancies such as ear shape, teeth, hairstyle, and clothing. Cliff Ochieng, brother of Jack Ochieng, stated the remains found near Obuong were not his sibling’s, emphasizing, "He is not my brother."
Jack Ochieng, a tourism worker who transitioned to car hire businesses after the 2020 pandemic disrupted his industry, was among the four missing individuals. Cliff revealed his brother’s network allowed him to lease vehicles from firms, noting, "He was well-connected and leased vehicles from firms."
The disappearance of the four friends gained public attention after a social media appeal by the Nairobi Crime-Free Society. Police confirmed recovering three bodies by late April 2021, though the fourth remained unaccounted for. Cliff added he had never met the other three missing individuals, stating, "I’ve never met any of the friends he was with when he disappeared."
The case has drawn renewed scrutiny as families continue to challenge identifications. The 1920s-era context of similar missing persons investigations remains under review by local authorities.
