On September 5, 2019, a daring heist occurred in Nairobi West, where three men posing as police officers stole Ksh.72 million from G4S personnel.

The G4S team had collected the cash from their headquarters on Witu Road and were transporting it to the Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Nairobi West when the gangsters struck.

According to sources, the gangsters turned on the G4S team, confiscated their phones, and offloaded the cash onto a vehicle before fleeing the scene.

On September 6, 2019, six G4S employees were arraigned in court over their alleged links to the heist.

The court allowed an application by the prosecution to have the six employees detained for 7 days at Lang'ata police station to allow police to complete their investigations.

Earlier, 13 cash boxes were recovered empty in Thogoto Forest, Kiambu, but the Ksh.72 million remains missing.
