On September 5, 2019, a daring heist took place in Nairobi West, where thieves posing as police officers stole Ksh.72 million from G4S employees.
However, in a surprising twist, the cash boxes were found empty in Kiambu's Thogoto Forest, leaving the Ksh.72 million still missing.
A man tipped off the police after spotting broken cash boxes and bags from different banks, leading to the discovery of empty bags from Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), and Barclays Bank.
Other items recovered include a mobile phone, a SIM card with serial number 89254021104175661927, and a G4S jacket.
The heist has been compared to a scene from the popular TV series La Casa De Papel, with many Kenyans taking to social media to express their shock and amusement at the daring robbery.
