Il Paradiso, a highly-rated horse, has been gearing up for the prestigious William Hill St Leger at Doncaster on September 14, 2019. The 2,800m marathon event has attracted a strong field, with Il Paradiso currently priced at 5-1, just behind Logician at 6-4.
Trained by Aiden O'Brien, Il Paradiso has a huge following after his impressive win at Curragh, where he cleared the field by 12 lengths. O'Brien has won the St Leger six times and has another contender, Constantinople, in the running.
Other notable entries include Broome, a recent Japanese purchase, and Sir Dragonet, who could cause an upset. The inaugural running of the St Leger was held at Cantley Common in 1776, initiated by Anthony St Leger.
Logician, an unbeaten son of Frankel, has been committed to the big race, despite not being used to longer distances. Trainer John Gosden has already achieved great success with several horses, including Shantou and Lucarno.
On a lighter note, a young filly named Palomba made headlines at Maisons-Lafitte, where she attempted to bite a rival jockey in full flight. Fortunately, the jockey escaped unscathed and went on to win the race.
