Published on September 6, 2019, police are investigating the mysterious death of an Austrian national in Mtwapa town, Kilifi.
The middle-aged man was with two women at the Casuariana Club when he collapsed, prompting police to arrest the women, according to Kilifi South Police Commander Esau Ochokorodi.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased and a foreign colleague entered the club with the two women at around 1am on Tuesday, and proceeded to the back of the club where they were drinking.
"They were visiting the club for the first time. We have never seen them around," said an eyewitness who was at the club.
Investigators are trying to figure out whether the foreigner was drugged at the joint, and are looking into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Mtwapa town in Kilifi County is known for its vibrant nightlife, attracting hundreds of clubs and foreigners, including Germans, Italians, Austrians, and Swiss nationals.
