Busia police officer Doris Wako is mourning the sudden demise of her husband, who collapsed and died on the night of Wednesday, September 5, just two weeks after their wedding.
The couple, who met in high school 21 years ago, had solemnized their union on August 18, 2019, in a church ceremony attended by friends and family, including street children.
Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, a distraught Constable Wako confirmed that her husband was not ailing at the time of his death.
"My husband collapsed and died just like that. He was not sick and did not complain of anything prior to the incident," she said.
Wako, who is celebrated for embracing street urchins and feeding them using her salary, had invited the children to witness her exchange of vows with her lover.
"I don’t see anything extraordinary to invite these good friends of mine on such a memorable day in my life. They are normal human beings just facing challenges back at home that push them to the streets," she said after the nuptials.
