The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has rejected claims that it issued a letter demanding the seizure of Ksh200 million in assets from Lang'ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir, calling the document a fabrication.

In a June 1 statement, the commission confirmed the alleged signature of CEO Twalib Mbarak on the circulated letter was forged. It emphasized that no official communications regarding Korir or asset recovery efforts had been issued through its verified channels.

The document falsely accused Korir of illegally acquiring Uhuru Gardens Historical land and converting it into commercial ventures, including a club, to amass wealth. It also directed the lawmaker to deposit funds into a specific bank account, according to the original report.

EACC stated the letter aimed to undermine Korir's reputation ahead of his re-election bid under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The commission noted that formal statements are only issued during active investigations or asset recovery processes.

A recent example of this protocol involved former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, whose properties were frozen in May 2022 amid allegations of embezzling nearly Ksh2 billion, as reported by Kenyans.co.ke.

The EACC offices in Nairobi's Integrity Centre were photographed on November 18, 2019.

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu voted at Wangige Market on April 14, 2022.
