Citizen TV was crowned Kenya's most popular free-to-air television station at the 2022 KUZA awards, according to results announced on May 31. The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) recognized the network as the top choice among viewers during the annual ceremony.

Mediamax Limited's K24 TV secured second place in the favorite TV category, while Citizen TV's sister channel Inooro TV finished as the third runner-up. The awards, organized by the CA, evaluated broadcaster performance across multiple media platforms.

In the radio sector, Radio Maisha emerged as the top station, followed by Ramogi FM and Milele FM. Regional winners included Sidai FM in the Rift Valley, Sayare Radio in the North Rift, County FM in the Eastern Region, Tuliza FM in the Central Region, Radio Pacho in Nyanza, Nyota FM in the West, and Kaya FM on the Coast.

The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) received the Ubora Award for Lifetime Achievement, acknowledging its foundational role in shaping Kenya's media landscape. The award also honored individuals who contributed to broadcasting standards, including former ICT Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo, who served from 2003 to 2013.

CA Director General Ezra Chiloba emphasized the awards recognized compliance with government regulations. He outlined three categories, including the Regulatory Awards based on 2021/22 compliance monitoring. "This award celebrates entities upholding standards of good taste and copyright obligations," Chiloba stated.

Esther Kamweru and Ndemo jointly received individual Ubora Awards. The ceremony highlighted both national and regional media achievements, reflecting the CA's role in overseeing broadcasting practices.
