Political leaders from diverse factions gathered at Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum for Kenya's 59th Madaraka Day celebrations, recognizing President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration for its infrastructure expansion since 2013.

Speakers emphasized the government's focus on universal healthcare, housing, and manufacturing as key components of Kenyatta's legacy, though UDA aspirant John Sakaja noted that development projects have not translated to improved living standards for citizens.

Sakaja: "President Kenyatta has done a lot in infrastructural development, the only disconnect is translating that into money in pockets of the people" — KBC Channel1, June 1, 2022

Azimio la Umoja running mate Martha Karua acknowledged the administration's infrastructure achievements while urging unity to advance Kenya's progress. "Every govern should seek space to contribute to the Kenyan dream," she stated, echoing coalition leader Raila Odinga's call for national reconciliation.

"This 59th Madaraka Day finds the country ready for its 3rd and most significant liberation. It’s time to reset. Time to come together under Azimio La Umoja and attain the prosperity and freedom that our forefathers fought so hard for." — Martha Karua, June 1, 2022

The event commemorated Kenya's 1963 internal self-rule from British colonial rule, with President Kenyatta set to deliver his annual address to the nation. Thousands attended the ceremony, which featured speeches from political figures and dignitaries.
