The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has denied allegations that it is unprepared for the upcoming August 9 general election, according to a statement from Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Chebukati acknowledged reports of unauthorized voter reassignments between polling stations, stating the commission is investigating these claims through formal transfer documentation. 'Verification and Inspection of the Register of Voters is ongoing until 2nd June 2022,' he said, emphasizing the process allows voters to correct registration errors.

The commission has deployed election technology procured through an open tendering process initiated in April 2021. A vendor contract was finalized in November 2021, with testing of the systems scheduled for completion by 9th June 2022, as required by law.

Chebukati reiterated that the IEBC is implementing measures to ensure electoral integrity, including oversight of voter registration adjustments and technology readiness for results transmission.
